Terminology within Pages
There is some terminology with Pages that you might want to learn to best utilize the system.

Themes & Templates
In Pages we support the concept of themes and, within themes, templates. Themes are just logical organizations of templates. To create pages a user would choose which template they wanted to use when they created a page. The template they choose is defined by the theme assigned to the site. For example, the Philosophy site might have a particular "Philosophy" theme. Within that theme they'll have templates for example a home page template and a back page template.

Content Area/Editable Region
There are controlled areas in each template where you can edit content. These areas are called editable regions. Editable regions in Pages can be identified by the orange outline of the region when you're viewing your page in edit mode.

Draft Content
Draft content within Pages refers to content created by an administrative user of your site that is only viewable from the administrative area. This information is not public. Content in an editable region that is "saved" is "saved" in a draft format. Content must be published for it to become production/public content. Note: The only thing that can be made draft and "hidden" in this way is content within editable regions. Other changes, for example, adding a page to your site, is immediately and publically viewable.

Production/Published Content
Production content within pages refers to content that has been "published" via a content area.

Default Page
The default page is the equivalent to a home page and, more then likely, will be named "Home". Note: In Pages the home page is considered a top-level page along with all of your other top-level pages. The home page IS NOT the parent of all of your other pages.

Versioning
One of the highlights of Pages is the ability to have versions of your content. Pages keeps a maximum of the last 5 versions of your content per editable region at any one time. Versioning is useful if you find that you publish incorrect information and need to quickly publish an old copy. Note: ANY save of your information unless you click 'Minor Edit' will result in a new version even if you don't end up publishing that information.
