Managing Resources

In Slate files (images, movies, documents, etc.) that are not directly related to your theme/templates are called resources. You'll find a 'Resources' tab related to each of your sites. Under this tab is where you'd upload files, organize your files into logical groupings and, when necessary, remove/delete files. Currently you can upload five files at a time and it must be done using a web browser. We are actively looking into other methods so that a user can upload more files when necessary.

Terminology within Resources
The following is designed to introduce you to the concepts in Resources so you can best utilize the system.

Metasets

When first loading up Resources you'll notice a blue header with links for: All, Documents, Images, Videos, Audio, and Other. All of these (except All) are metasets. Metasets are what we use to organize files by file type. So if you upload a picture of your Dean you'll find it under the Images metaset. Files are automatically added to metasets.

Sets

Inside metasets you can manually organize by utilizing sets. You can nest sets within other sets (e.g. a set called "Wallpaper" with sub sets called "Campus Scenes" and "Athletics"). You can associate a file with any number of sets (e.g. a picture of Mountaineer Field can be associated with both "Campus Scenes" and "Athletics"). The only restriction is that files you add to a set must be of all the same metaset (e.g. you can only put image type files in a set that's under the metaset Images). This allows us to make assumptions for you on how your sets will be displayed when using Snippets (e.g. if you're showing a set from the metaset 'Images' we expect that you want the collection to be listed online like an image gallery while a set in the metaset 'Documents' will be an unordered list). You add items to sets via your bucket.

Your Bucket

The bucket is used as a method to move files from a metasetd to a set. Items are added to the bucket via the basket icon. All items in a bucket or one at a time can be added to a set.

System Limits:
We currently have certain limits set-up for uploading files.
