HOW-TO: Edit a Content Area
This HOW-TO assumes you have the appropriate permissions to edit content on a page.
- In the dashboard click 'Edit a page'. Alternately you can just click the 'Pages' tab.
- Click the title of the page you want to edit the contents of. Alternately you can click the 'Edit properties' icon and then click on 'View page'.
- You should now see your page rendered but with orange boxes showing which areas of content you can edit.
- In the top right of the content area you should see a small white icon. Click it to edit the contents of that area. Please note: Formatting content, snippets, and versioning are covered in other HOW-TOs
- To save your changes you have three options:
Save draft - This will save a new version of the content area but will not be viewable to the public.
Save over this draft - This option will save over the latest draft version of the content area. Only available if: a) you're editing a content area that was last published/edited by you and b) if you click the 'minor edit?' checkbox. We strongly encourage you to use this option when available.
Save & Publish - This will publish (e.g. make live) the latest draft version so the public can see your content. You need at least one draft version available to publish before seeing this option. If you don't see the option your site admin may not have given you permission to do that.
