HOW-TO: Create a Role

Creating a role is actually a two-step process. The first part (this HOW-TO) just sets up a role to be managed and edited. This is covered in the next HOW-TO. Please review the Example Implementation above to get an idea of how to name and set-up your roles.

  1. Click on the Roles tab for your site
  2. Click on Create Role in the Roles toolbar
  3. Enter a name for your new role
  4. Click the 'Create Role' button.
  5. See next HOW-TO on how-to assign actions/modules to the new role

Common Error: I don't see the link for 'Create a Role' after clicking on the Roles tab
A. You do not have permissions to add new roles to a site. Please talk to your site admin if you feel you need that type of access.

Common Error: I created the role but I wasn't prompted to choose which actions/modules the role was assigned to
A. Creating a role is simply the act of creating a holder which you edit later. Please see the HOW-TO on managing and editing a role below to learn how to edit the actions/modules that are assigned to the role.
